As someone who doesn't exactly like to be touched discussing the power of touch may seem ironic at first, but bare with me as I show you why its not. I was never one to embrace others back in a full two arm hug. I always stood there uncomfortable and after a quick 3 seconds would do that awkward back tap and say "alright! that's enough." When I experience stress it's not just a mental experience for me. I used to think it was until one of my Doctor's showed me all the ways my body holds onto my stress. I was told to find ways to relax myself and one of those ways was to try out getting massages. At first I started going to get them in the nail salon after my Mani/Pedi and then slowly moved onto a place that mostly creeped me out because the beds were divided my curtains and didn't feel private. The massages there were a good price but I found myself leaving more tense than when I came in... almost as if the massage therapist gave me more knots while I was there.
I stopped going for massages because I felt that they just didn't work and then I heard about Shani Safier. Shani lives in the building right next to mine and her pricing was doable for me based on the reviews I heard. I was experiencing a lot of stress at that time and felt my body holding onto it more than before so I booked my first massage with Shani. That massage changed my life and I finally learned the power of touch helping to relieve stress my Doctor was raving about. Shani used massage techniques I have felt before along with acupressure points and movements very new to me. Within five minutes of my first massage I felt my body begin to relax. My muscles melted into the massage table and my mind was transported to a peaceful state its never been in before.
I was never comfortable being touched and suddenly found myself craving appointments with Shani. When covid-19 had almost all businesses closed, Shani did the right thing for her clients and herself and shut down too. Being that I was 3-4 months pregnant at the time I was counting down those dreadful days until Shani would see clients again. Once I got the okay from my Doctor based on what he felt comfortable with during this whacky time I started booking my appointments with Shani again. Shani takes all the precautionary measures needed to keep her work space sanitary in between clients and while she is working on each person. I thought wearing a mask would be difficult but it truthfully isn't so bad because whenever Shani is working on me I am so relaxed that nothing in the world can disturb my peace. I should also mention that I get my best sleep while pregnant on her massage table. I have the hardest time sleeping at night - I'm always uncomfortable and never hit a deep enough sleep to feel rested but when I leave my appointments with Shani my body feels like I caught up on all that lost sleep. If it's a quick 30 minute or a 90 minute session I leave with my body feeling revived and relaxed. My muscles feel loose and mobile instead of super tight and tense. Mentally I feel completely renewed and energized to tackle the rest of my day/week.
I should mention that I have gone to treat myself, to work through intense tightness in my neck, shoulders and back, for migraines/stress. It doesn't matter what I go to treat or how long the treatment is... I always, and I seriously mean EVERY SINGLE TIME!!!, leave feeling 100% better than when I walked into that appointment.
The power of touch can be effective for stress relief, but the power of Shani's touch is completely Magical.
I began working with @devotedheadwear when I got engaged. Devorah, the owner of Devoted Headwear, began gifting me headbands and beanies that I can wear with my wigs once I began covering my hair. Those headbands that I first got I still have today. The fabric is great quality and has lasted 3 years without fading or stretching.
Once I got married I began to play around a lot with headscarves. I never really thought of myself as the kind of girl who would feel okay in one. However, to my own surprise I began loving to wear headscarves more than any other form of covering my hair. The headscarves I have been gifted from Devoted Headwear are light weight, come in stunning prints and colors, and can be worn comfortably all day long. Those are important features I look for when it comes to headscarves.
Another really awesome item I was gifted was their Dry-fit cap. I never knew how much I needed a Dry-fit cap to wear in the gym or on a hot summer day until the one Devorah sent me arrived at my door step.
Devorah is committed to helping women cover and accessorize their hair for at a really reasonable price. The stock she picks out for her headbands, Beanies, Berets, Caps and Headscarves are never short of being breathtaking. The soft fabric, variety of prints, and incredible pricing are some of the reasons I love @devotedheadwear and representing this company.
It's not fun for me when I post products that I know are too "pricey" for my Insta fam to get their hands on. I love how I can confidently pass on the links and know the prices are doable and get even better when a sale swings around. Devorah makes this easy by having the same goal, providing women with affordable and super cute headwear!
About three years ago I made my first purchase from @miamodla. I bought 3 Winter MM skirts that I still have to this day. I fell in love with the hunter green, grey and black. The material was super comfy and soft and when I've lost weight and gained weight the skirts always fit me. I don't know if you can tell, but I love clothing items that are size inclusive.
A little while after that I hosted a pop up in my Husband's Adult Daycare facility. Miamod was one of the vendors to mark their prices as high as $50 to make shopping for Seminary more affordable for girls in my community. When I unboxed a package for them to set up at the shop, a package with two dresses were inside. "Mazal Tov on your upcoming wedding! Here is a little something you can wear during Sheva Brachot!" I was so humbled by the sweet gift I received and that pop up shop was the start of a wonderful relationship. When the sale ended I was gifted multiple dresses for setting up Miamod's clothing, managing the sale and packing the rest to send to another location. Since then, the kindness has never stopped, but always continues to warm my heart.
Since then I have been sent multiple packages with their amazing MM skirts, turtlenecks, and so many really cool dresses. I love how the dresses are always different from anything I own. They add color, texture, and pattern to my closet. I love how the pricing the amazing MM skirts, tops, sets & dresses are all affordable allowing women & teens to access cute & affordable modest clothing.
Miamod is a wonderful company that brings you along the process of creating the MM skirts in China and one thing I love most is how her sweet personality shines through in all aspects of business. Not only am I and her customers treated with so much love and respect but the factory workers in China get the same treatment. For the Chinese New Year money was sent as a token of appreciation for their hard work. That gesture was the cherry on top for me. Kindness is everything and truly makes the world go round!
Mimu wasn't always a company I had the opportunity to work with until recently but it has always been a company I admired and a company I am a loyal customer to. I began my relationship with Mimu by watching their stories on Instagram. I was completely pulled in by the way Mimi spoke about topics many Brands would be terrified to discuss. Talking politics, standing up for human rights, expressing her strong Jewish Identity and educating others on different aspects of Judaism are all topics you can except to stumble across if you follow Mimu for some time. Outside of those risky topics they proudly tackle, team Mimu will take you behind the scenes of photo-shoot days, styling items, Mimi's day to day, and they know how to bring all the hype and creativity when they are launching a new item. One of my favorites is when Mi+Mu share their outfit of the day on their feed with a caption that never disappoints.
What I love most about their clothing is the versatility that comes which each item. The headscarves come in gorgeous hues and can be styled in so many different ways. Did I menttion the headscarves will hold their style all day long? because that is VERY important! The dresses are all stunning colors and can be worn in all different stages of life and by all sizes and body types. I've been asked if the price is worth it, and I strongly feel it is. The fabric quality, ability to wash the items a million times and have the quality last, along with the multiple ways I can wear each item... it's well worth the price tag! Personally, I would rather spend whatever the price is on a quality product than spend an "affordable" price on something that will last me one season. Also, Mimu has great giveaway opportunities, sales- if you go into the store you get 50% off the sale rack!- and with mimu merits you end up saving yourself money every now and then.
I have Skirt leggings, Loyal leggings, Slip skirts, Ribbed body dress, Peak skirt, Ribbed cascade skirt, Cascade tops, Cascade dress, Drift dress, Frocks, Turtleneck frock, The Morah skirt, Slouch top, and all of the Head scarves. My wish list of Mimu's I want to add to my closet is still forever long and as they come out with new things each season it just keeps growing.
I was humbled and honored this year when Team Mimu gifted me a Slip skirt, The Morah skirt, Ribbed cascade skirt and a Ribbed body dress. To be able to represent a brand that is size inclusive and has such an powerful voice in the Jewish community and other extended communities is such an honor. When you shop Mimu you aren't just buying an article of clothing. You are supporting a small, woman owned business. You are becoming part of a loving and accepting community of beautiful women. You become part of so much more. You become more of a family member than a random customer.
**P.S. if you're going to the Brooklyn MRKT Mimu will have a booth there this year!!!!
Over the past 4 years I have had the pleasure of working with the powerhouse behind @esteezonline. Annette was one of the first companies to send me clothing when I started blogging. For the opportunity she gave me and the doors she’s opened for me afterwards, I will forever be grateful to her. Nothing means more to me than someone giving me a chance before I even have proof to show I’ll do right by them.
Over the years I was gifted multiples dresses, skirts, and tops from Annette. Each of them different, and each compliment my body shape so well. Not only do they look good on my short 5’2 body with very exaggerated curves, her clothing looks good on ALL body types. I’ve been drawn to Annette and her mission because it aligns with my own belief system. Annette creates clothing that fits ALL women. Annette carries Sizes 0-18/XS-3X. She has jean skirts of many styles and amazing colors/prints. She has beautiful solid color and print tops that range from your average plain Jane to your super girly Shirley. She has dresses for working out, a causal day out, work, & weddings. You name it, she probably has it. And if she doesn’t, she’ll probably have it very soon.
Besides for having incredible clothing @esteezonline also has insanely good Pricing! You can shop their website AND Amazon Prime. Buying modest & cute clothing has been made very easy thanks to Annette!
